Question about OEM headlights

For future reference:

The Sylvania Bulb Replacement Bible

Correct me if I'm wrong, you are going to install HIDs, right?

I went the other route and bought some H9, which by modifying the bulb base a little, can work in H11 sockets proving added lighting. (55w -> 65w) Hoping it won't burn up wiring, but since the wiring for the 65w highbeams look the same, I don't think anything will happen. If it does, I'm going to get the OEM HIDs (whole lamp assembly) from the 2007-2008 Solaras. JeJe.

i've had one of those 100W bulb in my 04 matrix and it almost burned up my wiring harness, i was able to use a small wire brush to scrap off the melted area on the connector and make it work again. so no the stock wiring cannot handle 100W bulb in normal headlight usages.

Thats true, in a way.
I have 6000K and when you look at them straight on they are bright white. Then when you walk to the side of my car they turn very slight blue even green.

That makes sense. A projector w/6000K has more of a focused beam of light. So most of the spectrum is squished together. Now without a projector you get a scattered light. The spectrum is more spread out so your able to see more of a certain color, mostly white. I guess thats why projectors look more blue than without. Does this make sense?

even with the gen2's projector i find 6k to be horrible in output i've had 6k hated it so much cause it was so dim, now im on 4300k the projector itself already gives off a little blue hue at the cut off so thats all the blue i need.

dang really? I had already begun to settle on getting the 6000k. I have projector headlights too. Yeah I'd like the blue but the whole point of getting HIDs is so I have better vision on the road (well not the WHOLE point). anyone else have the same experience as projex0?

14V
55w bulb = 3.928amps
100w bulb = 7.14amps

3.22amp difference.

http://www.powerstream.com/Wire_Size.htm

7 amps are the max. 7.14 is high. You are correct.

Find a 90W bulb and you will be fine.

My point was a slightly brighter bulb is not a problem. Anything up to about 90W is safe for the wiring spec. Assuming 22ga.

This is just my input. It's not exact.
