Three Questions about my 2006 Solara

You probably have a pretty solid case with them but you will get further by remaining calm and refraining from making accusations. If they turn out to be jerks and resist helping you out, then you can start chewing people out and talking to supervisors, etc.

Yes, I work in customer service.

Best advice yet. I've gotten more out of my dealer this way. Never go down to their level when they attempt to use their Dealership Jedi Mind tricks on your. Just take out your secret weapons, such as Cheryl and her knowledge.

Paint drips? Yikes. Not even a good amateur job. :(

Good luck, know1uno You paid extra for that CPO vehicle for a reason.

LOL, Jedi Mind Tricks. I swear dealerships are universes unto themselves.

I "finally" got a response from Toyota on-line. They told me to contact the service department manager where I purchased it.

Well, that dealership is in Idaho, I live in Texas. Long story about how
I bought this car.

I want to deal with a dealership in Texas !!

So the saga continues. Toyota corporate contacted me via e-mail and said I would be hearing from Teton Toyota, the dealership that sold me the car. The customer service manager called me and I explained what had happened, and he said he'd already been made aware of it. I explained the wording on the 160 point warranty and it feel on deaf ears. He basically said, you saw the vehicle in person and purchased it, if you didn't notice the bad paint job and/or damage to your vehicle before you drove it off the lot, too bad. Teton Toyota is not going to do a thing about it.

So I then called Toyota's 800 number and gave my case number to a very nice lady and explained the situation. She agreed with me and took down more information about my situation and said someone from Toyota corporate would be calling me. She asked me if I had an estimate on how much it would cost to get the repair done and I told her I was given a ball park figure of $400 or so to repaint that area.

I'll keep everyone up to date as soon as I hear something else.

Believe me, I'm going to. I really don't have a problem with the guy that sold me the car, but I do have a problem with the way I am being treated now, from the dealership. I also just can't drive back up to Idaho Falls, ID to confront them about it, either.

I'm sure they will be hearing from Toyota Corporation about this, eventually, whether or not it makes them look bad, who knows?

Not even close!

I too had to call the Toyota 800 number for an issue before I was taken seriously by the dealership.

I like the 2G tails just right... only interesting thing about the 2.5G for me are the HIDs, and maybe the taillights (not including the reverse bumper mod).

Any updates?

Well here is the latest from my problems about my car.

The Portland Toyota Regional office, which Teton Toyota reports to, called me on Friday. The gentleman was very nice and mentioned a TVU warranty (I'm not exactly sure of the initials) and said that my paint job should be covered under that, since it is Certified Pre-Owned. I wrote the actual name of the warranty down when I spoke with him, but it is in the car.

Anyway, he said to go to any of the local Toyota dealerships and see if they would undertake this warranty work. He called on Friday so I'm going to two local dealerships tomorrow, on Monday to see if either will do the work. I told him would it be okay if these dealerships called him directly to talk to him about this repair. From what I "heard" from him, I should not be out any $$$ on this paint repair.

We'll see.

Yeah, if the Toyota place here agrees it falls under warranty work. If not, I'll go to a couple more dealerships in the area to see if they can do it.

The saga continues.

I took the car into a local Toyota dealership. They agree with me that the car has been in an accident and that the repairs were faulty. So this dealership calls the Portland regional office for Toyota, since Teton Toyota is under their region. I get no where with this gentleman from Portland Regional Toyota Office. He says that I must go back to Teton Toyota in Idaho. We'll, I'm about 1200 miles from them, now.

So I've called the body shop manager at Teton Toyota and we'll see what happens now. I've tried going through them before and spoke to their customer service manager and his view on the whole thing was, "you looked over the car before you drove it off and everything looked good, tough luck".
