The answer may be posted above, but I just had a thought. Maybe something with the gas line. Perhaps a clogged fuel filter. Maybe someone put a foreign object in your tank.

Oh ya! Maybe they were nice enough to even top off your oil with some bleach. For all you know, there could be the remains of a cat inside your gas tank.

I've heard the craziest things that were put in people's tanks, including those above. People are weird.

Could be something with VSC. A sensor or solenoid for the VSC system in my car went bad and I could not drive the car over 15 MPH. They fixed it and so far, have had no return problem.

At of all due respect to you Crisp you answered the question on the 2007 Solara with the great intelligence. You probably really eased that cats mind. I just bought a 2007 Solara Sport V6 and not had that problem. If I do occur any problems I will contact you for advice. All the best to you Crisp.

I don't think I know ANYTHING about his issue... but the way issues like that go... he should be ok. Most important, it shouldn't become a point of great stress!

...now... a BLOWN HEAD GASKET on an 18 year old TURBO car... THAT'S cause for ALARM! (...I don't have one, by the way... but I HAVE in the PAST! )

Sorry for not replying sooner.

Thanks for all of the replies.

I actually still do not have my Solara back - but the dealer states it has fixed the problem.

They told me that it was a "faulty throttle actuator".

The reason I do not have the car back - I told the dealer to make me a new valet key while at the dealer - because they used the valet key when they installed the remote start upon delivery (which I too was suspecting was maybe involved).

Unfortunately, they are having problems "programming" the key (it is not working) - so they need another day.

Regarding the solution - I was inclined to believe some of your previous posts - and not the solution the dealer gave me.

After all - why did the Vehicle Stability Control Light come on if it had nothing to do with that system?

I hope the dealer did not just replace the actuator when it was not the main cause.

The "gas pedal stuff" was mentioned in one of the replies - do you have more info on this? It sounds like that was it.

I will let you know when I get the car back and find out more info.

For any failure in the actuator there is a mechanical default that keeps the valve slightly cracked so that you can still move the car.

Sounds a lot like what you have.

VSC is turned off in a lot of error conditions. That's why the light. Seems reasonable that if the throttle is in it's failure state, there's no need for VSC. Hope they get you runnin' smooth now.
