Not a clue, sorry. Will ask around. I know it is all water based now. Toyota is serious about environmental issues and converted the last paint booth to the water based paint recently. There was a good article in the Tuesday Lexington Herald-Leader about Toyota's partnership with the Univercity of KY to develop manufacturing improvements. The hot project is to find a way to reduce overspray, which is pure waste. The article stated that 50% of the paint is still wasted due to overspray. They did reduce a lot of waste a few years ago by putting new spray heads on the robots so they did not have to purge the color out for each body. Previously they would have the robot squirt paint into a waste drain till the color changed.

I have never once set foot in Paint dept. You need special lint-free coveralls to walk in the door and I have never had a reason to wander over. One of the guys I now work with was there for a long time, so maybe I can get a tour,

or just ride a body and see what happens...
