Were you shifting (if you have an AT) when you heard the dings? In sport shifting mode on the ATs, they'll beep at you a few times if you try to shift too low. Like if you're on the freeway and you're trying to shift to 1st gear. The car will take it down to 3rd (sometimes 2nd depending on speed), but give you little dings about how it won't let you shift that low. Try it sometime, you'll understand the dings.

If it's not those dings, than maybe you might want to take lilm111's advice, you got a text?
