damnnnnnnnn that sucks! did you get all the wheels back?

Yeah, the cops caught them while they were still taking them off. They never got to take off with them.

Damn...

I live in Queens too, but I keep my baby locked up at night in a garage.

Then again, I have a gen 1, so it shouldnt be a big deal, except that I have IS300 rims on it.. lol

And you live in Astoria.... man that's the quiet side of Queens... lol

Everytime I drive through there its mad quiet, I swear I can hear crickets.... lmao

I'm in Jackson Heights/ Corona. <- yup loud, and audacious, good thing cops are walking this beat constantly.

Hey, sorry about your loss... well, atleast you got yours, your neighbor wasn't that lucky.

They guy they caught lives a couple of blocks from Queensboro Toyota, that's why I'm thinking this wasn't just a random theft. :x

Press charges!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Signed the court papers yesterday. :D

Staten Island seems to be a regular occurance. They even take wheel covers, and they aren't too selective about the rims. People don't want to park in the street that's how frequent it is and the police won;t patrol the neighborhood. Where I live in the 'burbs, if they get more than 1 complaint about vandalized mailbox's they'll have 2 or 3 cars circling the neighborhood. If you go on vacation and let them know they'll pass by your house a few times a day.. go figure.. :o

Maybe they wanted the tires, I'm pretty sure my tires are worth more than the wheels. Put them together and it may be worth the time... that's just crazy.

Has anyone confirmed the alarm going off when you jack the car up? Did they disconnect the battery or something and wouldn't that set off the alarm too?

It's pretty quiet here at around 2:00AM, which is the time I assume they started. The alarm never went off. Battery wasn't disconnected either. I confirmed that. I currently have the factory alarm installed. From what I've read about it, it wouldn't go off unless one of the doors were opened or a window was broken.

I thought I had the factory alarm too - but apparently I don't then!

Mine is quite sensitive (fortunately). Loud Harleys will set it off in a parking garage - but so will some a-hole's car door (or someone trying to steal the wheels) ;)

^^You most likely have shock sensors and possibly a proximity sensor. That's what I'm planning to add to mine. It'll go off more often but its better then the car doing nothing if someone is trying to tamper with it.

Not even the window breaking will set it off. It's only if the door is opened from the inside when locked. So it has zero protection against your rims walkin' away.

Or the hood or trunk... At least in the Gen1 SLE (tried and true).

Im from staten island no rims stolen yet thank god. I did on the other hand have my driver side window popped out at 4am for them to steal 7 dollars in good luck money. It turns out it was a couple of 16yr olds because the car had alot more in it to take than just 7dollars.

I thought just us Greeks still threw money in the car for good luck. Sucks though, especially while trying to take something so small.

Let me get this straight... Risk facing GTA charges... With the chances of 1 year in prison... For 7 bucks. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard in a while.
