^^ yeah, Thats what i got from his statement, all else being equal, you are more likely to get t-boned if you remove your amber reflector..crazy as it may seem, he's sticking to this theory.

NO DUDE! WHat if i have an amber bulb behind a cleared reflector? Getting t-boned is a bad scenario, for anyone to NOT know which direction your facing or heading is truly a retard...AND do note that Asian secifications don't require amber corners and neither do they require parking lights to be amber...hence judging by your theory....everyone gets t-boned in Asia....OR your theory has just been proven wrong :pats on back:

WERD!!!

Why do you insist that having that yellow reflector piece will save you from your so called T-Bone accident?

For your information...The yellow turn signal bulb is very much visible during turning operation. So to relate back to what TS04 said below...

TS04 wrote:...
Yea but in order for them to t bone you:
1) They are not paying attention to signs or looking left and right.
2) They don't have their Headlights on
3) they should notice a 3000lbs moving object w/ lights
4) They are idiots
5) If you can't tell from front to back, you shouldn't be driving

Accidents are not caused by not having yellow reflectors. Accidents are caused by carelessness and unattentive driving!!!

Just take a look at the Lexus, they have no yellow reflector; so your trying to tell us that Toyota FUGGED up?

mmcdonald wrote:...Anyway, and this is personal, I don't get it. It looks like your lenses fell out, or that your car was damaged in an accident and you haven't gotten around to replacing the lenses.

Of course, that's just my opinion. And opinions are like noses: everyone has one, and they all smell.

From your statement ^^^above^^^ where you reference that my so called car looks damaged from an accident and I haven't gotten around to replacing them is the funniest shoot I've ever heard. Looks so nice and clean that an accident would have caused it huh???

WOW :o Best dayems accident I've ever seen that needs no repair...LMAO :drinking:

BTW, if that was the case, why in the world have I been getting tons of email of people wanting to buy clear corners??? Maybe I should refer them to you and perhaps you can tell them to get into an accident and BAMM! They too, will have clear corners....sheesh...LMFAO....

Just messin' w/ ya Michael (mmcdonald)... To each....you can finish the rest....

Payce!

Well, I'm not going to stack the odds in their favor of t-boning me.

To each his own, that's for sure.

My opinion (and take that for what it's worth - nothing really) is that it looks like the car is incomplete, or the lights are broken.

You know when someone gets a corner smacked, and some lenses are broken out, and then you just have white tail lights shining through where the lens should be? That's what clear corners look like to me.

Call me old fashioned. I'd rather see nice clean red and amber leds.

Well,

Postby mmcdonald » Thu Jan 13, 2005 11:14 am

I have been on a lot of threads here where ppl argue about whether they should be running 93 octane, or 89, or 87, which is just crazy. So I let 'em know up front what I use.

I think I have figured out a way to do what I had originally wanted... that is to drive without the parking lights (amber) on, but have them still come on when I am signalling... the answer was actually quite simple...

I mistakenly ordered 3156 bulbs instead of 3157, and noticed that they only have one set of contacts and one filament, as opposed to the 3157's two sets of contacts...

So, I modified the base of the 3156 bulbs by cutting out some of the notch (the 3157 is less wide)... and stuck them in... voila... when I tried the lights, no parking lights, but signaling works... I'd imagine that I inserted it correctly by chance, and that if I had turned it around 180 degrees, it would have been the opposite (no signalling, but with driving lights)...

So... I will be taking pics of this when I get a set of 3156 Silverstars (still want the amber signal lights for now...) in the meantime... as you were...

Oh, BTW, I'm just sharing what I found out... don't really care if anyone likes the mod or not :P

OK, just did a quick search... apparently, there are no 3156 Silverstar bulbs, at least not on their website... gonna hold off on this for a while...

OK time to add my meaningless 3 cents to the discussion.
MM and I think somewhat alike and I have to agree with him on this subject. Anytime you remove any kind of lighting from your car you are making it more difficult to see at night which statistically has shown an increased number of accidents overall. I'm assuming this of course because it makes sense and if it was up to the car maker and not the NHSTA they would strap friggin flashlights on the fenders cause it would be cheaper. But they dont. They try to make the cars safe by adding as much lights as they can to be seen while not being a distraction to other drivers on the road. Anytime you DEcrease the the amount of lights on a car at night common sense tells us that you are less likely to be seen by the idiots of the road which segues into my next point...
I've been driving since i'm 18 and i'm 45 now. I've logged thousands of miles as a route man at my job and more miles than i care to think about for everything else including being an avid motorcyclist. And it never ceases to amaze me how dangerous drivers can be. I've been right behind others as they are "tboned" in friggin broad daylight no less on a dark rainy night. I've been pushed into guardrails on the center divider by old grey haired biddies at 11 am! And those same biddies are driving home from bingo at 10 or 11 PM too. That scares me dude!
Then theres always the concern of that pain in the a$$ cop that once your pulled over gets you for all that "personalization" you've inflicted on your car. ie; altering signal lights and headlights, adding lights where they dont belong and IMO the most dangerous thing you can do to your car, dark window tint. Cops HATE that stuff. I have to admit, i've tried all of those things and found them to have more faults than they are worth. Sure they look great but sometimes you have to look at the bigger picture. All of these things whether you like it or not, add up to an increase, (however small you think it may be), in accidents and death. You may think that has nothing to do with you but it does. It affects us all because insurance companies love nothing more than to site these statistics when they figure out how much of an insurance increase they will hit you with next year.
And last but certainly not least, I also feel from looking at that pic of michaels whited out headlight that it IS missing a piece. My eyes are fixated on those small clip holes the amber piece snapped into. And Michael I'm not dissin your ride bro, I think its the nicest i've seen. It would be better if you had white lenses to fit in there though.
Sorry for the long post but i'm on a drug cocktail for some herniated discs and i cant sleep. lol
