Taking the Solara to the track tomorrow, any tips?

I agree...

I agree with the post about launching on the last yellow, unless you have gotten the slow throttle response issue resolved - or never had it.

The first few times I used the manual shift I blew right through the rev limiter in first gear. It is definitely a low gear.

Good luck and post with results and pointers. I doubt those stock tires are going to do much good (you said stock, right?)

I dug up this old post titled 'Ran the '04 Sport at the 1/4 mile track last night....'

I hope it helps you at the track.

Weedo's best time was 15.9 @ 89.6, best run, shifting manually. His last post was back in April, so I don't know if you can get a hold of him to give you some tips or pointers.

Those numbers suck! I told Weedo that. He said that he ran his car with only a few miles on it. I told him to break his car in and try again. 15.9 is way too high!

werd!

Why would you take a brand new car to the track? O well, not my car...heehee.

mattyboyl,

I do agree with you that it should be better than 15.9, but C/D got 15 and that's probably their lowest too. I hope VVTiGuy does a better job. But with no mods or upgrades...he better take everything out to lighten the car.

VVTiGuy,

Not to be bustin on ya, cus I ain't. Just reiterating what you said, but you think you can get your buddy that weighs buck thirty to drive it? It'll help out a whole lot.

I messaged Weedo today on if he ever re-ran his car at the track and this is his response:

I actually sold the car and bought an '04 4 Runner V8 so I never made it back. I did take the 4 Runner though. I ran a 16.1 with it. The 4 Runner was actually MUCH faster in the 1/8 (0-65ish). After that the weight and aerodynamics of the Solara take over and it really pulls ahead.

I'm not on this forum any more but was notified of a PM. Good luck with your Solara! I sold mine to a girl at work and she loves it!

I know, I'm trying to fix it. Be patient.

Edit: Fixed. Thanks Mike.
