Portable Ashtray Missing

Postby cklinh » Thu Sep 02, 2004 12:29 pm

I've just placed an order with my local dealership... quoted about $11... if you're in the San Francisco Area, this is City Toyota in Daly City... their number is 1-866-248-9869... they also run the partstoyota.com website... but the part isn't listed there... (and shipping would be a biyatch...) I'm going to pick it up...

edit: was $11.40 + tax w/ local pickup

The bracket has two long screws that go right in the holes that are there for the license plate. Very easy to install. Best $17 I spent to make my car look nice.

Just picked my bracket up from the dealership and installed it. There _might_ be a slight problem with this and the lower grills... the bracket not only screws into the holes, there's also a long tab at the bottom that goes around the bumper (the top part of the opening where the lower grill goes...)

that long tab may interfere with the lower grill installation (or at least make it tighter)

I just got my mounting bracket (only spent 12 bucks) this weekend....thanks for the part number jsie.

Cklinh (or anyone else who knows), did you find that the tab interfered with the lower grille? Which grille do you have?......

Im curious to know, because if it is too much of a hassle for installation etc., I'll just forego the lower grille and spend my money on something else.

heh, I was hoping someone would let _me_ know about the grills and the tab... I think it might be a problem with michael's mesh (since it has a border)... and possibly even the trenz... i think the ebay billet grill may be ok (worse comes to worse, you cut part of the top billet :) )

I might give the ebay billet grill a go if I don't hear anything back (in a few weeks time)

I'm kinda lost as to what you're referring to because I haven't followed this thread in a while and it seems that this thread has gotten off topic.

Perhaps posting a new topic for the grille issue that you are referring to.

As for my lower grille, there is a chrome trim border around the bottom, not the top and there is enough spacing for you to do whatever it is that you need to do.

Maybe I'm not reading this right and the fact that this thread topic is Portable Ashtray Missing just throws me off...lol.

Just open a new thread for the front license plate bracket also.

Thanks,
Michael
