It's way less fun when you floor it, and go nowhere for 2 or 3 seconds.

I've had a little lag before, but never this. Totally not cool.

Our RX300 has never done this.

Jones Beach?

Yep! I commute via Ocean Parkway....Nice peaceful ride, except in the summer.

Nothing worse than dozens of sun baked, brain roasted drivers in their SUV's plowing right into the circle at the same time....Or stopping right in the middle of it.

It's no wonder that traffic circle has its very own spot on the police report for accidents.

Xodessitx,

The problem for me was I was at a dead stop, hit the gas hard, but went nowhere for at least 2 seconds, maybe 3. Pedal all the way down and....nuthin. Didn't move an inch. Then it kicked in. Happened to me only once the other day.

Left drift was fixed on my car, but I had to tell the dealer about the TSB for it because they didn't seem to know about it. Do a search here for "left drift final resolution" and you'll see a thread with the TSB #, VIN's effected by it etc. It was posted in March I think.

I feel the lag in response also. The damn thing is, like most ppl here, I experienced that during merging onto freeway when there were cars going 70 mph behind you. I think it really is a safety issue and Toyota should take all these cars back . They do have a TSB for RX 330 regarding this lag in response but from reading those postings from RX 330 owners, the TSB doesn't seem to work.

i find its occuring most, when im driving in stop and go traffic, and get between 15-25 mph, and then am looking for a sudden burst of speed, and its not there.

in situatiosn like this, im going to use the tiptronic and drop into 2nd, it seemed to work better yesterday.

I thought that hesitation from slowing down to wanting a burst of speed was something dealing with the torque... I could of sworn that people were talking about how much they loved that hesitation.

Well, dropped mine off at the dealer last night, if I get it back tonight, I will let you guys know what happened. Also, let's see if they can fix the left drift on this SECOND attempt.

Well, just got a call from the dealership, said they drove it 17 miles with no problems. Of course not, cars always do that to make you look stupid. I tried to tell her it was innermittent, and they refuse to fix it so I am going to call Toyota and complain, this is a SAFETY issue!!!

Anyone have the number I call?

I actually called Toyota before. All they will tell you is to bring it to the dealership.

I don't think it's random. It happens all the time, when i slowed down to 15-25 mph and then floor it, it takes 2-3 seconds to downshift. Same thing when trying to merge onto freeway. I think dealership will try to stall you away by saying it's normal. I'll take it in tomorrow and hopefully can show it to a mechanic. I know they have no idea how to fix it. I just want to document the repair so I can pursue Lemon Law. Also I want the mechanic to acknowledge that lag and document that also. I'm actively researching for the Lemon Law in my State. I don't know if it considers a lemon. But it might be a design flaw. A design flaw impairs the safety of the vehicle. On the other hand, Toyota is aware of the problem. I know there's a TSB for the RX330, which I believe shares the same engine and transmission with the 04 Solara. So the lag in transmission downshift should not be new to Toyota.

I just couldn't forget that one time when I was trying to merge onto freeway, there were cars following me trying to merge and there were cars on the freeway. If I stop and wait for the cars on the freeway to pass, I'll get rear ended. So I decided to floor the car and merge. But just because of that 2-3 seconds delay, I almost got rear ended by the cars on the freeway.

i've actually noticed the same lag and i usually have it when i'm braking to a stop but then accelerate and there is like almost a 2 second time frame of no response and then the acceleration hits in. well the thing is i think i may have read it somewhere here that it was the way the new engined was designed. if i can find the old topic i'll try to post it up but is this lag now since its being investigated becoming a problem with accidents that have occured or possible accidents that it can create.. like a safety hazard cause i do agree its a pain when trying to merge onto highways and you have a delay before acceleration kicks in.
