I have had my car at the dealer regarding the sunroof and rear suspension (rattling noise). The sunroof is making a rubbing noise when opening/closing/tilting. The rear right side is making a rattling sound which seems to be a popular problem on this board. The sunroof motor was replaced and it's still rubbing. So a new sunroof track has been ordered and will be installed next week. The rear rattling sound seems to pinpoint to the rear strut and mount. Those too, will be ordered and installed next week. I'll keep you posted on the issues and see if these remedies solve the problems.

yeah i have noticed the rubbing sound with my car as well. i dunno if it makes the rubbing sound when its opening or closing (haven't had a chance to really listen) but when i telt it it definately makes rubbing noises.. could be because of the hot weather lately but let me know if the new track helps cancel out the rubbing in it.

i'm not sure if it's the same noise, but when i get into my car on hot days the sunroof makes an awkward noise when i open it. but when the temperature is average, or cold, no noise. so i'm not worrying about it...

my next oil change is in 800 miles, and i'm going to have 'em look at the rear deck rattle and see about having 'em put more padding in there.

yeah i tested my sunroof out today when it wasn't hot and sunny today and there was no rubbing sound so maybe mine just happens with the weather. mattboyl, is your rubbing sound happening at all times or did you notice it on sunny days?

sounds like i just stained my shorts everytime i open the roof thank god im past the 1st date phase with my GF ( hence the 1st fart was broken in a long time ago and fake ones are now funny even if it is the roof but i still like to shift to one side and make the close 1 eye and squeeze face)

Just to update you guys on the two situations regarding the rear rattling noise and sunroof. They replaced the rear strut and mount and added foam to the rear panel in the rear known as a noise kit. When I drove out of the dealership the noise was there. I will give it awhile to see if the noise gets better or worse. The tech. says it should be a recall within a year. They also added foam to the front side driver's side dash in regards to that rattle. We'll see what happens with that. The sunroof cable is on back order so I will have that done next week. They had the tracks but needed the new cables. I'll keep you posted. On the upside, I earned enough coupons for a free oil change!

Are you having problems with the tilt and slide mode or just one of them? Mine is fine for sliding, but when I use the tilt mode to vent the hot air it definitely makes some noise - not a fart exactly but it sounds terrible. I'm going to try using a silicone lubricant on the rubber gasket this weekend and see if that makes a difference. Mine sounds like 2 pieces of rubber chafing against each other.

Wow! I'm sorry to hear about these problems and annoyances. So far the only issue(s) I've had is the drift (fixed when new tires were put on) and a pesky rattle that comes and goes. Overall, though, I'm quite pleased with my Solara. I am interested to see what the 05 model will have for cosmetic changes.

My sunroof was making the same noise. Took my car to Toyota last Friday and they lubed the sunroof motor and track. It is better but still will make the noise at times. I would normally take it back but the dealer is a 45 minute drive and I do not have the time to keep going back for little problems.

My parents live on the island and decided not to buy a Solara because there is no dealer that is convenient...looks like their going to buy a Volvo or SAAB instead.

Do you know if they lubed the rubber gasket around the sunroof? That normally helps a gread deal.
