Wood trim in SLE models

Wood trim in SLE models

Postby Tongtong » Tue Apr 06, 2004 7:11 pm

First off, I've already searched but haven't found a solid answer yet.

I'm about to purchase a SLE model but really don't like the wood trim. Is there anyway the dealer can swap out the silver sport trim for the wood trim?

Buying the sport model is not an option (hate the ground effects) and I don't want a SE either. Yeah...i know i am picky. Thanks in advance.

Agreed! You also have an option of buying the car with the wood and buying an aftermarket kit for it later. You can go to NYCWOODDASH.com to see if they have any kits for the 2004 yet.

Thanks a lot! I guess i am just afraid of aftermarket kit will make it look cheap/funky, or doesn't match right. Rather let the dealer do it and save me some trouble. :D

Just go to the Toyota parts department and ask them to order the silver trim pieces. Pop out the fake wood and replace with the silver one, or have the dealer replace it. I was thinking of changing mine, but the fake wood has grown on me and I think it looks good.

Wood trim

Postby jmack » Wed Apr 07, 2004 6:57 pm

Actually it is not that simple, at least according to my dealer. The dash pieces cover the vent assemplies and cost hundreds of dollars. The side pieces show in the parts catalog as being part of the entire door panel. I found a place that would put genuine wood on the pieces (APSISUSA). That quote was $600 or more. I would not recommend any flat dash kit. Actually, most dash kits now available are add-ons that match the factory "wood" Great, you can add more crappy trim. I got over my aversion to the fake wood dash. Would still change it if I could, but now, after 6 months of ownership, it is not so important.
