Oil in '04 SLE V6

I just had my first oil change in my 04 SLEV6. The dealer put in 10W-30.
My manual says to use 5W-30 and does not give 10W-30 as an alternative. It even says if you have to use 10W-30 to switch back to 5W-30 the next oil change. My dealer says this is the first time they have seen a manual that doesn't give an alternative. They don't even have 5W-30 in stock. They are checking on it, but I was wondered if anyone else had any opinions. I live in Florida and really don't want to use the lighter weight. :-?

10W-30 is just fine. The only reason the mfg. recommends 5W-30 is for gas mileage, not protection. Ask yourself on a 80 degree day what would you rather have in the engine. My husband only puts 10W-30 Mobil 1 (year round) in my V-6 SE Sport. Honda recommends 0W-20 now, heck you may as well put water in the engine. It's all about sqeezing every mpg out of the motor as they can.
