Remote Fobs Won't Open Trunk

Remote Fobs Won't Open Trunk

Postby mplowman » Mon May 11, 2009 12:45 am

Just became the proud owner of a 2006 SE Convert. We only got 1 key (master/black) and 2 fobs. The fobs open both doors, but when you press the trunk release nothing happens. I have keyed the trunk lock beside the drivers seat and tried it locked and unlocked, no sounds at all from the trunk. Where to start looking, I used the search feature and found so much other great information I am finally getting back to my original question. Thanks in advance for your help.

I swear to God my trunk is easier to open if I point the fob anywhere BUT towards the trunk.

and it sucks that there's no keyhole for the trunk neither! but +3,4,5 to what they said about holding it down for a second longer.

Funny you should mention this, Bob. Mine actually does work better from the front of the car and from the side of the car than from the back of the car where the trunk is. LOL But three seconds is not such a long wait. I remember when I used to have to walk 10 miles to school. Ha Ha! Just kidding.

Keyholes

I guess keyholes are a real problem for car designers. When I discovered that my car didn't have one on the trunk, I was rather pleased. I don't particularly like them in the tail light and sometimes they seem to put them in the wrong place. Some American cars used to cover them with a logo badge right in the center of the trunk lid that you had to flip either way to access the keyhole, but a lot of drivers forget and leave it uncovered, sort of like when they leave the gas filler door open and drive down the highway. Did you know that some cars used to hide the gas filler behind the license plate? I really liked that. Then you didn't have to negotiate which side of the car you needed to fill up at the gas pumps. Thanks For The Responses

Postby mplowman » Mon May 11, 2009 12:16 pm

Wow thanks for the quick replies and so early in the morning, night owls I hope. So.....1000-1....1000-2....1000-3......1000-4, click, pop and the trunk opened. Fuses would have been my next place to look.

Again WOW!!! I am happy to be a part of such a great group!!!!

Thanks so much, I know where to go for info.

yeah but there was a time when i didn't have a fob for my car yet... and everytime I needed to open the trunk I had to open it from the drivers side. it was a real hassle. you're right though, with the fob, no keyhole makes the car more aesthetically pleasing.

"Aesthetically pleasing!" That's the phrase I was looking for. That's what I like about my car and it's my goal to keep it that way. Jimmm
