Warranty Work - In the Nick of Time
With only 400 miles left on my ride before the 36k mi. cutoff, I was able to get some work done and covered under the warranty still.
On my way to Las Vegas on Monday, I checked my oil when I stopped for gas and noticed it was about a qt. low. I had it changed about 2500 mi ago but did notice a small leak of oil/grease on the passenger side in the driveway. So I happened to contact another member on the TS forums who is a service tech at the Toyota dealership in LV since I was going to be here for the week - he hooked me up and got me in the next morning. He took me back to show me that the leak was just the drain plug and it was loose (1/4 turn from finger tight) but the seal was leaking. He said that's common on the Camrys and Solaras and popped a new one in for me. Said to keep an eye on that when someone else does your oil changes.
Also - BOTH of the boots were leaking and spinning grease all over the place - inside my wheels, etc. I thought that was originally from the sh!t I sprayed on the Whiteline Sway Bar bushings, but it wasn't.
Found out that is another thing that is common on the Solara - lowered or not! They replaced those both for free - LUCKILY I had the TRD springs and not COs as they would have voiced the warranty on that! If I waited until I got back home, my warranty would have run out.
So make sure you check your CV Boots if you're still under warranty!
...and keep an eye on those drain plug gaskets!
Oh - BTW - the Solara made quite a hit here in LV - had everyone from teh sales manager and the techs all coming to look at the beautiful exhaust work JP has done! Wish I had brought my camera to take some shots from underneath too! Most had never seen the CP-e either - made a hit!
