I see you've been trying to do this since July.

Suggestion:

1. Download the wiring diagram for your '04 from the Toyota Technical Information System ( https://techinfo.toyota.com)

2. Invite a buddy to your place or take your car to someone elses garage so you have an extra set of eyes/hands to help out.

3. Provide appropriate snacks and libation.

The install can't be all that difficult. Instructions posted online show only four wires

1. Red = Ignition On Find that using a test light or voltmeter
2. Black = Ground That can be any bolt behind the dash you can confirm as ground using a continuity tester
3. Yellow = RPM signal You'll need the wiring diagram
4. Purple = Speed signal Wiring diagram again

Where you mount the meter is entirely up to your sense of style/taste but should be easy to get an eyeball on. I see you can buy a mounting bracket for the unit but you might want to try Velcro first.

Cheers

DO NOT USE A TEST LIGHT! Test lights are very dangerous for our vehicles and may damage circuits, relays, etc. USE A DMM (Digital Multimeter), you'll be able to test for everything safely.

1. Ignition= You can find the ignition wire under your steering column. Just take off the cover and find the wire. I don't know the color since I've got a '00.
2. Ground= Like mentioned, find a bolt behind the dash.
3. RPM= You can find it behind the speedometer, check the wires in the connector(s).
4. VSS (vehicle speed sensor)= Also found behind the speedmeter.
