Down sizing HP on the solara?

Down sizing HP on the solara?

Postby data xXx » Wed Oct 24, 2007 6:45 pm

I was checking the specs on the solara on the toyota website, and noticed that the HP has been down graded. My 04 solara has 225 and the 08 has 210. the 4cyl went from 157 to 155 and the v6 went from 225 to 210. anyone know the reason to this?

Same HP, just different manner of calculating it. There were a lot of posts on this when the 07 came out...the way HP is calculated changed.

They should make WHP the standard anyway. I mean that's the bottom line anyway.

1 day after Toyota displayed those number (210 HP and 220 TQ) I was feeling pretty bad. I did my own research. New SAE process to calculate horsepower. They use J1349 procedure now...

SAE J1349 Certified Power
http://www.sae.org/certifiedpower/details.htm

Bottom line...you got the same HP between 04-06 and 07-08 models. Just a different way to calculate it ! First year the 2GR-FE came in the Avalon it was rated 280hp/268TQ...same thing here

I believe torque is still calculated the same.

Anyway, this has been discussed to death, so I'll lock it.
