Stock struts replacement

Stock struts replacement

Postby cgs0409 » Wed Sep 26, 2007 4:10 am

I looked to see if this has been discussed before but couldn't find anything so here goes. My'04 SE has around 98k miles on it so it's past time to replace the stock front and rear struts. I was thinking of using the ones that came on the SE Sport model as replacements. I don't want to lower my car nor alter the ride a lot...I realize that I may do that somewhat with the Sport struts though. Have any of ya'll done this or any thoughts on this swap...Charley

Yes it can be done but I think if you do you also going to need the Sport springs (which I have a set for sale).

I checked with my local Toyota parts man...seemed to know what he was talking about. He says that the Sport struts will work on the SE without changing the springs...makes sense. It would be nice if I could find drawings of the two struts to compare measurements. But...I wouldn't except to find a big difference. The biggest difference he said would be the Sport strut would be a little stiffer. So...maybe I don't want to go that route...built for comfort not for speed.

Believe me it is not near stiffer as you think. It is just perfect and confortable. Even with the TRD spring and 18" wheel is still confortable.
