strange engine noises

the past 2 days i have been getting this odd ticking sound from the engine that stays constant at all speeds and when idling, its getting annoying but i am really not sure what is causing it. i do not think its the fan belt, because it sounds like its coming from the drivers side with the hood up.

i also have been getting this rattling sound whenever i accelerate or i am on the highway and give the car more gas. again i do not know what it could be.

lastly, i occasionally get a brief squeak sound when i give the car gas and take my foot of the gas a second or two later. i think it might be the throttle body or something.

these all started around the same time so i have a feeling something is up, i guess i will swing by the dealer tomorrow and see if they can help me. by the way i only have 16,000 miles and its a 2006.

1. ticking sound i get is after car shuts off, but thats normal
2. the rattling sound I had on my car when I accelerated was due to my catalytic converer's heat shield rusting loose and scraping the ground...

well i took a trip the dealer this morning and they were not busy at all so they looked at the car right away.

the ticking sound is from the fuel injectors and the mechanic said there a little louder than normal and recommended using fuel injector cleaner.

the mechanic said he could hardly hear the rattling sound i was talking about and that it was probably something in the catalytic converter, and he claimed it to be normal and he hears it all the time on toyotas.

finally, the squeak sound was not heard at all.

so i guess i wait and see if it gets louder.

^^^ I hate it when the symptoms dont show their face at the dealer... very frustrating... I hope you can get it fixed.

well with the help of a bottle of fuel injector cleaner, my noises are gone, except for the rattle/jingle sound.

i really only hear it if i am accelerating from a traffic light or something, and it happens right before it shifts up. it is more audible from the drivers seat than from the passengers seat.

i think it might be either something in the transmission or it is something that is rattling under the hood or the exhaust system when i get high up in rpm's.

I get the same noise when i punch it or rev high.. i think its from the heat shield of the cat. maybe removing will help. will it cause any problems if removed ???
