Convertible window leak?

Did the search but could not find exact answer. Cleaned car for winter, 2007 SLE, so windows were perfect. Had some rain and snow in last couple of weeks. Window behind driver side has two lines where it looks like dirty water got in and ran down inside the rear window. Is it normal to have a little of this happen or bad sign of major problem?

I had a minor leak dripping from the front window onto my leg. I took it up to toyota and they recut the top. It has work fine since I have an 05

Hmm. I have the roof drip a bit when I go through a car wash and just assumed it was part of the compromise with a convertible. Perhaps it's worth visiting the dealer about it.

btw its recommended not to wash your car in car washes just because that reason

Yeah - if you're in a heavy rain storm or even after washing your car, you may get an inside window drip or two. This is normal for any rag-top. Even my Bro's Jag and the neighbor's 6-series do it I'm told. Only the hard-top converts don't leak.

Not a big deal to me - as long as nothing's getting damaged and I"m staying dry!

Wow. I live in The Snow Belt. I suppose I could put on a scuba suit and wash it in my driveway, but you know, I think I may just deal with the few drips and call it a day.

You're fine in the better quality car washes - it's the gas station "beat-o-matic" car washes they advise against using.

Besides, like you say, it's a matter of a few drips - not gushing torents of water coming in!

Sorry, I guess I did not make clear, this did not happen when it was washed. It happened while driving after the car had been cleaned a couple of weeks earlier. It was easy to notice because the windows were cleaned, so these were new lines of dirty water on the inside of the rear window. We had some snow and this was a mix of snow water and salt. I always hand wash but this is going to be a real pain this winter.

I usually only get leaks in the car wash too. The only time I have had any leaks during rain is if I roll the window down (front) and the weather strip gets wet. When I roll the window up it tends to drip a little. I think that the wet weather stripping acts a little like a siphon (sp?) and the difference in air pressure brings the water in. It doesn't do it much, and stops after a minute...and believe me, we get torrential downpurs here as anyone in FL can attest!

If your car is new, and leaking while just sitting there, it's possible you have some bad weather stripping and taking it to the dealer to find out is probably best.

It would be nice if the car didn't drip, drip, drip in such a pronounced fashion when I open the car door in the rain.

I think they fixed that for 07...if you look close up, there's a ridge there now. I'll admit that's annoying
