TRD parts for gen 2

TRD parts for gen 2

Postby Strapped4Cash » Tue Nov 07, 2006 4:23 pm

This site has provided a wealth of information and it's time for me to do some performance improvements to my ride.

I'm looking to find a source for TRD parts for my '05 convertible. My dealer's joke of a discount is 5% off list. I'm in the market for the rear sway bar and possibly the front strut brace. Any feedback on which would improve the ride more would be appreciated.

Thanks.

www.trdparts4u.com is a good source for cheaper genuine TRD aftermarket parts also, check that out.

Bought a couple of TRD items from Sparks Toyota. Good prices and service.
Moved on to better things...

The rear sway bar will significantly improve the ride quality on those sharp turns. it eliminates most of the rolling and lets u turn faster and sharper.. might be my best improvement til now.
I got mine from reggie

Looking for handling improvements? In my opinion, the mods to do in order are:
1) RSB - Rear Sway bar. Set to track setting.

If that's still not enough ...

2) TRD Springs: 1" lower.

3) Change the wheels and tires. Go 18" or 19" if you have no potholes in your roads.

4) If you want to pretty up the engine bay, the FTSTB (Front strut tower brace.) is a good option.

Thanks for the reccomendations. Any thoughts on 18"-19" rims that won't break the bank? I need new tires now anyway.

I agree with this except replace # 2 with coilovers... :D more $$$ but IMO (after riding on the TRD springs for almost 2 years) the only way to go...

18" rims -- look at PXLPainter's (Gen2 Convert.) ride... (i.e. OEM rims from a different car... usually inexpensive)

On a 07 Sport Convertible - how much difference do the various TRD suspension parts make over the standard sports suspension?

* Struts - car has the 'sports struts' I have read that these are decent with the lowering springs. Are aftermarket struts vastly better for the for ~$400 cost than the standard 'sport' ones?
* RSB - the sport has a rear sway bar (if I am not mistaken), is the TRD a vast improvement (for ~$200)?
* FSTB - again, the sport has a dinky one installed - is the TRD vastly better(for ~$200)?

The ride isn't bad with the standard sports equipment - pretty firm (imo).

I would like to reduce the cowl shutter as much as it is possible.

Comments?

struts there kyb which is almost the same as the stock sport ones
otherwise your only choice would be coilover

RSB all model solaras have this
and yes the TRD one is a huge improvement over stock

FSTB all model solaras have this as well
and general consensus is its a must for convertibles
the coupe can deal without it but is also a decent mod

also after you do those mods you will see how soft the stock ride was

Owning both a 2006 Solara coupe and a 2006 Solara convertible, the convertible DEFINITELY needs a FSB, its like driving a completely different car around the corners. and the coupe (according to DriDed) dosent noticeably get any better with the TRD FSB

Thanks solaraguys - that's great feedback...very helpful in my investment priority.

I just had a guy welch on me to sell me his new unistalled TRD springs for $150+ $25 freight. He got a local buyer and dumped me! WTF!
