SLE Convertible Trunk Space

SLE Convertible Trunk Space

Postby GaryPSU » Fri Sep 15, 2006 8:46 am

I have an '06 SLE convertible that I purchased in June. I play golf on Wednesdays with two other guys. Every third week it's my turn to drive. For the summer I have been using my wife's SUV - begging her not to take my Solara to any store parking lots unless she parks far away from trouble. Now that she's back to work (teaching assistant), I thought that I had no choice but to have her take the car to the school parking lot. To my amazement, I found out that I can fit three sets of golf clubs in large cart bags in the trunk of my Solara. I didn't even attempt this until this week. My wife is thrilled too. She doesn't want to be responsible for the first "ding". A friend of mine who payed over list price for a Pontiac G6 convertible (a car that I considered buying) can't even fit his briefcase in his trunk when the top is down. It's not much better with the top up. Talk about great Toyota design engineering - the back seat fits real adults, and the trunk is quite useable.

+1 yes I agree with you. my friend had a M3 convertible same car I was going to get but when she popped the truck there was no room. I think we were on our way to the beach.. my chair didnt even fit in the back! lol

With my solara I could fit more than enough. I love the trunk space. I had just moved into a new place and I could fit at least 2 medium size boxes and 2 small boxes plus room for odds and ends on the sides.

I'm 6'2", 250+, and I fit into all sorts of Toyotas, even in the back seats. Gotta love 'em!

Yup! That was one big selling point. Most convertibles have little to NO trunk space. It's awesome to be able to put stuff in there and still be able to open air drive!

I reported shortly after I got my Solara that the first gig I had to haul gear to I was able to fit 3 bass cases, amp head, gig bag FX bag stands and put both speaker cabs in the seats up front.

Love the roominess in this car... one of the big selling factors for me! ;)

ATTENTION MARRIED GUYS:

I measured, and I am happy to report that with the nations average height of a WIFE being 5ft 6in - we can EASILY store their bodies in the trunk of a Solara... :drinking:

Opps, did I just say that outloud...

With extra room for 2 Ex-wives if you fold 'em.

You can get them in easier when they've been cut up and the parts are frozen. Stacks real nice and you'll still have room for the cargo net!
