Steering drift to left and rearend noise.

Just wanted to thank this forum. I bought my Solara in 2003 when they first came out. I love the car but I had the problem of left drift when going down the road and a vibration coming from the rear of the car.

I got the TSB on the drift steering problem on this site. Armed with my copy, I went to the dealer. I don't drive my car much (5,000 in 2 years) so I waited thinking the dealer would have heard of this problem by now. First thing Carlsbad Toyota wanted to do was charge me $169.00 for wheel alignment! I then showed them my copy of TSB and they crossed off the $169.00. I have a feeling that they were going to charge me for the alignment and when I returned not satisfied, they would perform the TSB charging Toyota for that. Double dip!!! They did follow the TSB and replace my springs along with a tire rotation and wheel alignment. The car drives beautifully now.

I took the car to Escondido Toyota for the rear end noise. Carlsbad couldn't find it so when I got to Escondido I requested a tech ride with me so we could hear it together. After tearing the back seat and panels out, they found a spot weld under the side rear window broken. They rewelded the panel which took care of the noise. They also called me on the phone and told me my car was going to be tied up for a few days. Asked me if I wanted a loaner. I took it (Corolla) and drove it for a couple of days while they were working on my Solara. Boy am I glad I bought a Solara instead of a Corolla!!!

Thanks again to this forum for TSB information. I would have never known about it otherwise.
