Where can I get the new Toyota paint touch up pens?

Where can I get the new Toyota paint touch up pens?

Postby slingshot » Mon Dec 13, 2004 4:47 pm

I've inquired at my dealership many times and called some others nearby and none of them have the new Toyota touch up pen that is supposed to be better than the old-fashioned brush and paint bottle. I'll order it from the internet if I have to. Does anyone know of any toyota parts internet URL's or dealerships that you can order from over the Internet that have this pen?

I think there was a post about this... I picked mine up on ebay... but it seems like I can't find it anymore... I'll see if there's a part number on the pen when I get home tonight...

If your keying went all the way through the paint like most keyings do you have no option but to repaint the panel. The paint pen is only supposed to be easier to use to touch up paint dings and small scratches.

I just called up these guys and they said they had problems with the pen where it leaked after using so they don't carry it anymore. THey only now carry the brush and bottle. Anyone have any leaking problems with this pen?

No leaks... but it's hard to use (at least for me)... still haven't quite mastered it...

I'd do the paint side, let it dry then try to do the clear coat... but the clear coat would immediately "undry" the paint... causing a big mess... maybe i'll give it another go one of these days...

Must've been the way i was doing it (wrongly) but the color seemed to be too dark to match my car... but then again, i never really got the clear coat on... afterwards, I just ended up using the clear coat to "undry" the paint and wiped it off....

i find the pen good for chips you just touch the tip to the chip and its done, you dont have to worry about excess paint from the brush. However if your filling in a scrape cut or scratch a brush fills that in better. Forget the brush that comes in the bottle of touch up paint its to wide and the bristles are too long they break away to easy.

theres enough paint in the paint pen to clean up a hood of chips after a bad year and you can squirt some excess ot and use a fine tip brush and fill in a scratch or 2 as well.

paint pen didnt cost me any more than $10 ( canadian)

Which brush or other implement do you use instead of the too-wide brush that comes with the bottle? How about a toothpick?
