I thought Gen 2 Solara's are HID. No?

Not HID's, just projectors projecting your regular halogen bulbs.

So, how does HID look like? Do they come stock on any cars?

I find the PES lights definitely brighter than my GEN1 headlights used to be so they aren't the same but better.

The bulb that different; HID bulbs usually longer & slimmer in shape. Other than brighter & whiter color; can't be seen on projector headlight like the Solara as the bulb hidden behind the headlight thick lens.

Yes in some cars as well as an factory option for Celicas; and standard in most Lexuses and other luxury brands.

since they gen 2 solaras are running the projectors, can just plug HID bulbs in? or do i have to retrofit?

You'll need to retrofit for HID's. But if you're going for the look of an HID, you can get replacement bulbs.
