My '04 possibly going on sale!!!

My '04 possibly going on sale!!!

Postby Fatal-NJ » Tue Aug 31, 2004 12:20 pm

I just ran into a couple extra bucks, so I was thinking of trading in my '04 for a new BMW 5-series or possibly even an RX330. My friends and parents tell me to just keep the Solara, but I've had so many problems with it and I have about 40,000 miles on it! Yea, 40,000! I'll be lucky if I get 13,000 for it...So my dilemma is basically should I drive it till it dies, or get something a bit nicer? What do you guys think? My best friend thinks I should take the money and go play $100-200 Texas Hold'em in AC, but I'll pass...although 20-40 does sound tempting! Haha

i"ll give you 2 bucks and a pie! Honestly, if you are dissatisfied with it...sell it. You can never be happy with a car that you are dissapointed with.

Go with your instinct. The RX330 or BMW 5-series are very nice. As for taking it to play holdem...hmmmm...I'd be cautious... now 20-40 table is not bad. But, still...casinos is just too risky, but I still go...lol.

Hey...were you the won with all the problems on the Gen 2? I can't remember...

If you put that many miles per year on a car, why get an expensive car? Drive something reasonably expensive but very comfortable. The GEN2 is very comfy on the highway, isn't it? Use the extra money on something else important.

good luck in whatever you decide. Just curious if you don't really like your solara what drove you to purchase it initially? Your going to take a big hit in terms of money. From the sound of your post it sounds as if money is not an option(I iwsh I was one of those people) I love this car. I am keeping it to it truly dies.

Just ran into the same sitution... got a promotion at work, which doubled my salary. Although I will take a substantial loss on the Solara, I will be buying the new 2006 or 2007 GS 300 (Can't quite afford the 430) It is quite a beautiful car... can't wait to be behind the wheel. I am going to give my car another 2 years... as my Solara has been VERY VERY good to me, with only minor first model year typical issues. I still get compliments all the time.

This is the new toy I REALLY want:

What do you guys think?

You know that new GS reminds me a lot of the G35 coupe for some reason. Don't get me wrong, I like it...and the GS has been overdue for a redesign.

The interior is really sweet!

BTW, what do you do? Doubling your salary is pretty tough these days...

I didn't say the G was bad...

The GS reminds me of a cross between a Maxima & a G35 with a vastly upgraded interior...just my 2 cents...look @ the trunk though...and look at the Maxima trunk...the GS looks classier, but I'm more of a Toyota fan.

I am a Realtor for Foxtons (We are a full service value added broker on the east coast, in the tri-state area). I am a buyer agent on the field... pretty sweet hook up... with a company car(a mini cooper). This is my first career that I have ever had where I actually walk out with a smile on my face every day... the training is intense, and the management is hands down the smartest and most employee focused group I have ever come across. Realtors cannot stand us because we only charge 2-3% commission, however we ALWAYS try to cooperate with them, although most of their listings are at 5-6%, and even 7% in Pennsylvania. Its just sick to take away $20,000 at closing for some simple advertising, marketing, and showings... and some light negotiating. Imagine giving up the price of a new car at your closing for atmost 20 hours worth of work.

Now to get back on topic... that GS is one sweet car, and in my opinion both the G35, Maxima, and Altima are great cars to pull design influence from. I would never buy the G, its too small and overpriced for what you get... with a relatively cheap looking interior. The Altima is nice, but not upscale enough, and I cannot stand the maxima's back end, and its old man feel.

The new GS reminds me a lot of the 1first gen GS, those were my dream cars back in the day...still are (in a way)...its just that i don't see too many well maintained first gen1 GS series
