Portable Ashtray Missing

I picked up my new car yesterday, 05 SLE Convertible. Reading through the owner's manual (p.211) the car should have come with a portable ashtray. Although I don't smoke and neither will my passengers, I will be asking my dealer about this on Monday.

Has anyone else run into this? My bet is the person preping the vehicle thought it would work better in their tool box or on their desk. Since the car doesn't provide a coin holder I figure this could be a good alternative not to mention I paid for it

i think thats a small extra... comes with the "smoker's package" usually. look at toyotas site and you see it as an option.... atleast in the reg hard top.

Look in the trunk, it might be there. Strangely enough, my car came without it, but I really didn't care for it since it looks really bulky and out of place. However, as far as I can tell it does come standard.

No ashtray came with mine either. To the best of my knowledge, this is an optional ($) extra.

i noted to my sales person it wasnt included and he said he could get 1 but i wasnt intrested why promote smoking im not a smoker and nor is anyone else gonna smoke in my car.

Ya know where it goes? its cup shaped and fits in the cup holder. Screw that i need to put cups there not an empty smokers pot.

I didn't get one either and while I am an ex-smoker I would have liked to see an ashtray since there isn't a coin holder.

I'm wondering if these two items should come with the 2004 Solaras:

1. Front Licence plate mounting assembly. As I had a few fix ticket in the past for not having front licence plate, so now I need to install the front plate. But the front bumper is curved; and by just putting the licence plate, it looks so ugly as it looks something missing on there. I went to dealer and asking the sales, they said that mounting assembly does not come with the car. Sorry for being stereotyping, but I cannot thrust what a car salesman said. I went to the parts department, and the ppl in part dept. does not know whether new car shoul/not come with it. But the assembly can be ordered for abt $20 incl tax.

2. Like most other Toyota, the top console for storing the sunglasses can be swap w/ the cover for storing the garage opener. Is that cover for storing the garage opener should come w/ the car?

I bought one of those license plate brackets for the front of my Solara. It fits and looks real nice. Much better than screwing the plate directly to the front bumper (how tacky!!). The dealers save about $15 per car by not putting one on for you.

No, the sunglasses holder is not supposed to be for the garage door opener. In fact, they encourage one to get the SLE because of the homelink system, which in turn you won't need your garage remote anymore.

My car came with the front lic. bracket, because VA requires a front plate, but now that I am moving to Fla. I will no longer need it, and it would be nice to have just a regular bumper.

I bought my bracket through the Toyota dealer in Carlsbad, CA.

They had to order it and had it in two days. $17.00 and it really looks good if you HAVE to have a front license plate.

Quick question... how do these brackets mount to the bumper? Do they use the same holes that are there already for the license plate? Or do we have to drill new holes?
