Dead pedal peeling already! Anyone w/ wear and tear issues?

My car has 4500 miles and the dead pedal (which is the plastic piece to the left of the brake where you rest you foot in an automatic) is peeling already. To prevent further peeling and possible damage to the carpet, I'm going to purchase a custom dead pedal to drill in. This way, there will be no more peeling and I won't have to go back to Toyota to wait on backorders for such a chessy part. Anyone else having any problems with wear and tear already?

no i haven't noticed any wear in the pedlas. but the future prospect of getting new pedals for it if wear does occur would be cool.. though also it would suck to have to replace them so soon so we'll see.

I haven't either. I'd also try and cover it with something aftermarket. I wonder if Toyota can do anything?

I have mine covered with a Levoc aluminum dead pedal. How do you wear out a dead pedal? I really can't picture any driving activity that could do that.

Take a look at your stock dead pedal. It's a cheap, chinsey piece of rubber that has started to peel from the carpet. I'm a perfectionist when it comes to my car, so I will be searching for a dead pedal to install. I may even go chrome. Who knows?

Went to Pep Boys to get a brushed aluminum dead pedal. I peeled the rubber pedal from the carpet easily and will install this aluminum, one. I am getting very frustrated with the quality of the interior plastics. I had a new dash ordered because someone from the dealership rubbed something against mine and now this section cannot be shined. When the new dash came in, the dash had shiny and dull parts from the packaging. I asked to have their detailing shp see if they can make it look consistant and I will look at it Monday. These dashes will not stand the test of time if they can't even stand the test of time from Calif. to Philly in an insulated box!

Do you have the part number of this part from Pep Boys and the price? I might get it too since I already have the chrome looking sports pedals and that dead pedal might then match it.

I don't have a part number, but you may just want to swing by Pep Boys and just look at their inventory. They have just brused aluminum. I didn't see any chrome ones. It's in the section with the pedals. If you don't find what you want there you may want to go to ebay and click here for a chrome dead pedal.
