Automatic headlights...

Postby cgs0409 » Wed Jun 16, 2004 6:28 am

Wondering if anyone else out there has had their automatic headlight feature die on them. Funny thing...had the headlight switch in the auto position...cut the car off and the ignition key didn't want to come out of the switch...so I did what any warm blooded American would do...gave it a good yank. Then I noticed the headlights didn't cut off. So I manually cut them off. Now when the headlight switch is in the auto position the lights do not cut off when you cut the engine off. So...I assume I messed something up when I yanked the key out of switch. Oh boy...back to the dealer...hate that. :o

Did you give it a few minutes to turn off? That's how they normally work. My 03 Altima stays on for 1 minute and then shuts off automatically. I'm not sure what the time frame is for our Solaras...But I never leave it on auto anyways.

Hope you get it fixed. I hate going to Dealers for anything, they take forever and normally takes them two to three try to get it right or they don't have the part in stock. :x

Good luck!

Automatic headlights

Thanks guys...the lights cut off as soon as you turn off the ignition. I went out to the parking lot after reading the responses to see if on a timer or using the remote would cut them off. I started the car, put the light switch in the auto postition and verified that the lights came on...they were. I then killed the engine and removed the key...checked the lights and lo and behold they were off. Tried again...the same results...the thing fixed itself. Go figure...

Thanks! It works! I always went back to make sure the lights went off. I love to leave them on auto so I'll just click twice from now on.
