Leather interior on SLE

Leather interior on SLE

Postby Ikhandi » Wed Jun 23, 2004 6:45 pm

Anyone having issues with their leather interiors? Reason I ask is my car just recently got to 3,000 miles and my leather seats are already looking like they belong in a five year old car. I have been conditioning them and cleaning them with Lexol every two weeks and I have more creases and cracks in the leather. I am starting to think the leather in the car is of an inferior grade. Dealer has been contacted about replacing my worn out drivers seat.

I have my car since October with more than double your miles. The only creases I have is on the left edge of the seat because I sit on it then slide over it to get into the seat. The rest of the leather looks perfect. I have not even used any conditioning or cleaning products yet.

7,500 miles on my car with nothing out of the ordinary. Maybe one or two creases on the driver's seat where I constantly pivot my left leg to get out but overall, the leather looks just like it should.

Maybe you got a few unhealthy cows? :P

Too much

You're cleaning and conditioning every two weeks? Isn't that excessive? Maybe the constant conditioning is causing the problem. Isn't leather to be conditioned every few months?

Over conditioning will not cause cracking. The leather will eventually get to the point of not absorbing the conditioner. Regular cleaning is a must also.

no probs here. I do use Armor All's leather wipes every now and then if i see a spot or two. If anything, Ivory leather requires more upkeep especially on the steering wheel.. such dirty hands :P
