SOLARA VS AMERICAN CORVETTE

BOTH THE SOLARA AND THE CORVETTE ARE BUILT IN KENTUCKY. ACCORDING TO THE WINDOW STICKERS, THE SOLARA IS 80% AMERICAN PARTS AND THE CHEVROLET CORVETTE IS 77%!!!!!

DON'T LET ANYONE ACCUSE YOU OF DRIVING A FORIEGN CAR.

It's very interesting that you really can't say, per say, domestic or import. Really, the only thing foreign or domestic on these cars is pretty much their badges. You have Chrysler linked with German enginered Mercedes, Dodge linked with Mitsubishi, Ford linked with Saab and Jaguar, and so on. With all these mergers, you really don't know how much of an influence one is to the other. I'll always love the fact that Toyota and Lexus share parts and you can pretty much buy a Lexus without all the nonsense goodies for a bargain, since it has a Toyota badge! This really confuses consumers today who really can't tell anymore how much of an influence one is to the other, including myself. :D

Toyota and Lexus are the same company =P Lexus is a division of TMS.

Ford OWNS massive chunks of those companies over seas, along with Mazda and a good number of other cars. The own enough shares to have the hold over the company, but allow other holds on it so they can run themselves lol

GM and TOYOTA are linked to a certain extext. Their Fremont factory is shared by GM and TOYOTA. I guess the Kentucky one is also shared. You can also see shared technology in the OLD Corolla/Geo Storm and, currently, the Matrix and Vibe
1GR-FE ftw!

I was amazed when I saw the 80% American origination on the sticker...it is getting to the point that a foreign car is more American than a so-called "American" car. We're sending jobs, espcially manufacturing, overseas too fast; thankfully some companies are sending them over here too!

I'll have to mention the Corvette issue to my Dad the next time he tells me the big issue is where the money goes in the end...jobs put money in everyones pocket rather than just a big corporation's pocket.

i think mercedes being linked to chrysler is a bad thing for mercedes. chrysler has dragged them down a notch.

You're right about that! On the other hand I think Chrysler is benefitting from the Mercedes influence.
