Who here changes their own oil? Is it easy to do? Where is the oil filter and what oil do you use?

How I did it - "MAINT" light

Postby jimhoff » Tue May 04, 2004 12:55 am

At 2,500 I changed to Mobile One, New Car Formula and a new deluxe Fram filter. The filter is way up in there--get under the passenger side of the motor. Use the ashtray-shaped filter remover. Everything else is typical.

I'm at 5,500 and the oil is clean and exactly full--no use.

I plan on changing again at 8,000 or 9,000. That will be a year or more on the same oil

Now if I could find how to turn off the "MAINT" light on the dash.

Oil changes

Postby TribalDemise » Thu May 06, 2004 5:00 pm

I just changed my oil myself over this past weekend. It was a snap to do. The oil filter is near the front of the car, near front passenger side wheel, just slightly behind the where bumper stops. Was really easy to get to and doesn't make too much of a mess when taking it off either, although it does stay filled with oil. Two and a half months and up to 7,200 miles and a trip to OH next weekend will bring it to 8,700 miles at least. I love this car!
