What type of gas...

What type of gas...

What type of gas do you guys use and at what octane? Since this is my first new car, I've been pumping Chevron 92 which is hurting my wallet... So I'm thinking about just going back to arco. What do you guys think?

If you have a v6 you should use 92-91 octane. I use Chevron and Mobil primarily.

According to the manual, you can use 87 octane. I personally do not like it becuase I notice a major shift in performance when using 87 compared to 93. The car just pulls when you put more octance in the car. Plus I hear the car uses the higher octane more efficiently since the combustion is much cleaner. If your not a fan of speed and just want to get from point A to point B, it's 100% safe to go with 87 octane. Look in your manual if you don't believe me. :p

It sounds goofy, but I'll only put 92 octane in the tank if it is 10 cents or less per gallon than 87 octane, or if 92 octane is under $1.75 per gallon. Neither of which occur too often.

I normally use 87 octane and once in a while use 91 octane on Tuesdays when they reduce the price. I don't really notice any difference in performance or fuel economy. Overall, I don't really push the car often and drive pretty conservatively so maybe that is why.

lowest I've seen so far in my area is a Chevron, $2.27 a gallon for 91 octane here in So. Cal.

I miss 93 octane, damn emission laws.

I pay $2.36 for 92 Chevron Supreme... Going from my 92 Honda Prelude which I pumped cheap Arco gas to my 04 Solara Chevron gas just sucks. But gotta take good care of it.

IT'S simple 87 Octance for my SLE V-6 I didn't fall into that 91 octane business. It is a serious waste of cash. Besides I put in the higher octane and didn't notice a difference in peformance of the engine
