Manual Transaxle Oil requirements

Manual Transaxle Oil requirements

Postby gnegroni » Thu Aug 20, 2009 7:22 pm

Goaod evening lads!

I was calling in to verify how much the Stealearship would rape me for the 75k service (~$180) and also to ask about how much the manual transaxle oil capacity is...

My manual states 2.6 quarts
They tell me its almost 4 quarts

Does our transmissions (E351) have a separate compartment for the differential (where the additional quart should goto)?

Any manual transmission Gen2s can fill in? My main concern being that I recently change motor oil to Royal Purple and purchased 3 quarts ($15 each) of 75W90 for tranny. In reality, I don't trust the stealership with my expensive fluids.

So I take it the E351 (gen2 manual) has roughly the same capacity as the E153?

crap, that means that filling that f@cker up every 15k miles = 5 quarts x $15 = $75??? Wow...

Recommendations?

Well, sometimes I play the MPG game, others...I do shift car hard. Still, do you guys replace ur manual transmission fluid every 15k miles?
