Anyone had a Actuator Assembly go bad....

Anyone had a Actuator Assembly go bad....

Postby Aja » Tue Mar 24, 2009 4:36 am

I have a 2004 Toyota Solara and my tire pressure warning light goes on and off with no rhyme or reason. I have 2 new tires and the back 2 tires are fine, the tire pressure is also set correctly. The dealer said its probably the sensor (the actuator assembly) that has gone bad and its about $1000 bucks to fix. It drives me crazy when driving and all of the sudden the pressure light goes on and then after a few seconds/minutes it goes off... Has anyone had this happen to them?

If the sensor went bad, your ABS wouldn't be working either. Did you recalibrate your tire presure warning light after you changed the wheels?

If you mean, did I hold the reset button down and the warning light flashed 3 times, then yes I did.

have you been having large outside temperature swings? My light has been going on and off a lot lately too cause i have mine calibrated for below freezing, and then i drive on the highway and the tires really heat up.

That could be enough to trick it, i've found mine to be incredible sensitive. before you go replacing parts, reset the whole car's electronics by disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes. That should reset everything and see if the problem returns after that.
