Wear spot on convertible top

Wear spot on convertible top

I was wondering if anyone else had this issue. Toward the front on each side, the crossbar is starting to wear the top. When the top is lowered, the cross bar pushes it's little corner into the top, and now the beginnings of a hole are there. For now, I stuck a felt circle, a very thick felt circle, and by that I mean about 3/16 to 1/4 inch thick, onto the end of the bar, on the side that pushes up on the top, to stop the metal part from coming in contact. This seems to be a good solution so far, as it does not get in the way of the roof opening and closing, and it is lined up perfectly to provide a buffer between the bar and the fabric.

Has anyone else had this happen? Did it eventually poke all the way through? Were you able to have the fabric repaired? I do not want to have to replace a roof that is 99% perfect for a couple of holes the size of an eraser head.

I have the exact same thing happening to mine and it only has 20,000k on it.
I got some clear glue used for boot repair and put just a drop on the worn area (about 1/4 inch in dia.)
It still shows up slightly darker but it stopped the fraying.
I wounder how it would work to put a small piece of black felt on the body panel where the canvas touches to reduce further ware.
