Noise at 45 mph+

Noise at 45 mph+

I'm looking for anyone that has had a similar issue. There began a Moaning type noise from the car, at speeds of 45mph and greater. You could "feel" it in your feet. When turning sharply to the right, it goes away briefly.

The tires are fine. They only have 6000 miles on them, and the treadwear was checked and is perfect 11/16 all the way around and all the way across.

The brakes and rotors are brand new, and the moan was the same before changing the brakes as after.

The wheels are balanced and the car is perfectly aligned.

The left and right front wheel bearings have been changed.

The bearing at the midway point of the right driveaxle has been changed.

The transmission has been checked, serviced, and that filter/cleaner thing changed. (once at 40k, once at 75k, and now, at 94k.)

When up in the air, on a rack, running at 40 - 50 mph, the car is quiet as a mouse. No shaking, shimmying, etc.

But when driven, it still does it.

ANY IDEAS????

Sounds like a diferential problem, you might have to remove the trans and check the internal diff spider gears and carrier/pinion bearings

Well, that was what they were saying they might need to check next, which is scary. Turned out it was the right rear wheel hub / bearing assembly. I guess the hum and subsequent vibration was resonating through the frame to the front of the car, which is what confused us all. Rides like new now..... Glad it was not the tranny, thanks for the tip tho
