Bad Ignition Switch?

Bad Ignition Switch?

Postby rohand » Sat Oct 18, 2008 5:33 pm

Earlier this week, I got home from work and turned my car off as I always have for the past 4 years. The next night, a friend told me that the clock and range display were lit up. I went out and checked on it only to find that he was right. I put the key in the ignition and turned the car on for a couple of minutes. When I turned it off, everything was off.

A couple of days later when I was leaving for work, the battery was dead. Like, no clicking noise when I'd turn the key...

I'm thinking it's a bad ignition switch. If anyone else has any info on this, that'd be great. On a side, and possibly important note, I do have a remote start system where my valet key is being used seeing as how our keys have that whole chip deal. I don't know if that'll affect anything, but I figured mentioning it won't hurt.

Thanks in advance,

Ro

The car does activate certain circuits when the keysense wire is activated. I noticed when i went to a used car dealership that the solara batteries were allways dead because they leave the keys in the ignition (even though it's in off) and the displays were on.
