Extra key?

Extra key?

Postby panic » Fri Aug 29, 2008 6:39 am

My dealer believes that an extra key should cost = 1 month's rent.

Are they all like that?
Alternate source (yes, I have the number and the tag)?

Thats because the key has a "chip" in it so that noone can just jam a screw driver into the ignition and steal you're car easy.
Believe ME I've had alot of vehicle towed to the shop

Its one of the many ways a stealership will have you by the balls. Some of them wont program keys that were bought on e-bay, and they wanna charge 200+ to cut a key and program it. Programming a key is easy when you have their diagnostic tool.

You don't even need a diagnostic tool to program your key. There are instructions you can use to program a key to your car provided you still have your master key. Basically it's a ballet that involves your driver's side door, locks and the ignition.

LOL... well, what I would do is order a compatible key off ebay, a blank one. And then go to a hardware store to have it cut, like $5 easy. Then download the instructions off the net (they may be on SG) and you've saved a couple hundred bucks at least. Just be sure, though, that you have a master key and not the valet.
