Carpet issue.... :)

Carpet issue.... :)

Postby thestevo44 » Tue Jul 15, 2008 2:43 pm

I have a little issue with my Solara (I know, stop the presses, I'm posting something actually about my car this time!!!).

Anyway, the carpet on the driver side, right by my right leg behind the radio keeps coming out from behind its little panel where it should stay. My wife says it "just happens", but it does not ever seem to happen to me. Don't tell her I said that. I have a suspicion that it might have something to do with the power seat going back and forth? Moving it forward might be pushing the carpet forward?

Has anyone else had this issue, and have you done anything about it? I'm thinking of just tacking it in somehow, but was hoping for a success story from soneone else.

Ok, I had that exact same problem. In my car, it was the carpet on the passenger side that kept coming out from the plastic on the console; the hump where the transmission is.

If you're under warranty, go now and get it fixed.

I took it in and they said it just needed to be stretched. I said ok and left. The very next time a passenger was in my car, she asked "what's wrong with the carpet". I was a little aggravated because the dealership service department said they fixed it.

Well, I took it back and told them they said they fixed it but they didn't. So they replaced the whole carpet. It took about a week to get the carpet in since it was ordered, but they replaced it. I have not had a problem since... except for them messing up my seatbelt when detaching it to put the carpet in. It took 3 or 4 more trips to get the seatbelt untwisted and working properly... they ended up replacing the retention mechanism in it.

This happens to me once in a while. I just push it back behind the plastic. Doesn't happen that often, and has nothing to do with the seat, since I'm the only driver and the seat never gets moved.

This has happened to me in other cars, and it's just a matter of your foot pulling down on the carpet enough to pop it out from behind the plastic. Just push it back in.
