Can you buy molded splash guards for the '08 SLE V6 Solara?

Postby mrcarnut » Sun Mar 16, 2008 9:21 am

I am buying my wife a 2008 Solara SLE V6. She currently has a '99 Solara SLE. On the '99 we had molded splash guards put on the car at the dealer when we bought it new. I am not finding splash guards or a sun roof deflector for that matter for the '08. Does anyone know if these are available and where I might buy them?

If you want to order splash guards at a reasonable price I recommend this website:

trdparts4u.com

I bought mine in absolutely red and they fit perfect. This Toyota dealer also has good prices on body side mouldings, filters etc.

toyotaparts4u.com

had good deal with them, strongly recommanded.
but then... u have to expect bad customer service.
order stuff from them three times
i got all my tracking numbers AFTER i have recieved my order.
i though they were stealing my money,
so i wrote couple email to them, but never get a reply.

oh well, the price was resonable, and i got all my order CORRECTLY
so, i guess it's still good to do business with them

Splash guards and deflectors are available to fit your car BUT either the car is too new to be in the catalog or (for splash guards) there could be a color issue which might be the reason you're not finding an application for your '08.

If your new car is red or lunar mist, black, cosmic blue or any of the other common Solara colors you're in good shape for splash guards. If it's something new for the model year you might have to wait awhile or get an unpainted set and have them color matched at a local paint/auto body shop.

Check this page for installation tips: http://www.gadgetjq.com/solara/splashguard.htm You'll find a link to Toyota of Dallas (TRD Parts 4 U ) where I've purchased several aftermarket items. (Great service, nearly instant communication and very good pricing by the way.) The link takes you to a page showing the colors available.

The same issue may apply to your moonroof deflector. Since the roof (presumably) hasn't changed from '04 to '08 the part listed for '04-'07 should work for you: http://trdparts4u.com/PD-PT415-06990.aspx?MakeID=1 Of course it wouldn't hurt to phone and ask before ordering.

Cheers

Thanks everyone for the replys. Unfortunately the Gulf States dealers no longer have the mud guards as they are discontinued however I found that the Southeast Region Dealers can still get them and I bought a set from Deland Toyota in Florida and they were great to work with. Steve was very helpful and I will have them put on the car Friday before I pick it up.

Unless they're installing the splash guards for free save the money and install them yourself (you 'are' Mr Car Nut after all :) ) The installation is very simple using existing bolts up front and only requiring one hole be drilled (each side) for the rear. 20 minutes and you're on the road including a coat of fresh wax on the guards.

Cheers

Since I just ordered the new car on Monday and am having the dealer install a 3M bra and sunroof deflector they are going to install the splash guards at no charge so everything will be ready to pick up on Saturday.
