I Think I Did Pretty Well...
I don't mind saying that I'm pretty sure I got a good deal on my car. In fact, I'm kinda' proud of myself.
I subscribe to Consumer Reports Magazine, and they offer for about 12.00 everything you would want to know about a used or new vehicle, and then some.
It contains info such as what the dealer paid for the car, the MSRP, the actual cost of the vehicle, dealer/manufacturer's incentives and hold-outs, the true price for each and every option, etc...
Anyway, I followed CR's advice and began negotiating up from the "true" price of the car, instead of down from the "sticker." It was sweet, y'all; several dealers calling me, each attempting to sell me the identical car! I'm not sure if it gets better than car dealers fighting with one another for your business; what a concept!
Anyway, I ended up paying 21,350. for the car. That's with a 6-CD changer, wheel locks, sunroof, floor mats, electric driver's seat, spoiler, anti-theft, and some other crap as well. When it was all said and done, with the CR report, I saved about 1500.00-2000.00, I think. I would've saved more, but my car was the only one within a 3-state radius of Texas(I checked, trust me). Oh, yeah; they paid the shipping from the Port of Houston to the dealer closest to my house(600.00-800.00).
If anybody you know is in the market for a car, new or used, I would strongly recommend this cheap service. It's worth every penny.
Thanks,
James
