Brought the car into the the local Toyota Dealership for an oil change. Tech recommended 15k mi service for 300.00 bucks. This includes re-tourquing the bolts and some engine additives. Of course I told them I wouldn't consider it. they recommeded a cab-air filter as well. 69.00. After searching on here about the cab-airs, I didn't see any of these brands mentioned. wondered if anone knew of them and the quality. There from rockauto.com, I've had good luck w/ them in the past.

Not a clue. I'm a sucka, and pay the dealer to do everything. It's just easier for me.

Just like I do my grocery shopping at 7/11.

I've done NOTHING at the dealer except the "DRIFT LEFT" TSB early on.

My car has 57,8xx miles and runs perfectly. No leaks or other "wear" related issues yet. I HAVE already flushed the tranny... and I mean FLUUUUUUSHED it! Worked GREAT! (@35k 'ish) 2nd set of tires... and the recent mods since SolaraGuy found me 6 months and 9k miles ago.

I'll take the car to a local, trusted shop for the timing belt when it's time. The plugs are going to get changed this spring, and I'll clean the MAF sensor and do some other basic "tune-up" stuff... myself.

Other than that, I get a quality oil change and check-up every 3-5 thousand miles with 100% synthetic. :D

Hate to pay "sneaky" dealers... unless the work is really needed and priced "reasonably".

Did you flush the tranny yourself?

That's where I went..I swear everyone that had their car in was reccomended something. the 15k maintanece is just nuts. re-tourque my bolts? gimme a break.. Rockland Toyoyta has the best mechanics. There's a guy there named chip. He's a whiz. Anythng majotr I'd bring it to him. For an oil change P.M is right up the block. 38.00 is a lot for an oil change though, they have some 5.00 environmental fee..Don't know the quality of Autozone filters copared to rockauto. Don't wanta cheapo filter..I'm not cutting up an air condtioning filter either thanks :)
