Window Gap

Window Gap

Postby PhreakdOut » Fri Nov 04, 2005 10:20 am

I am moving this to a new topic ... x0swtextacy0x, Your original question is in the quote below:

x0swtextacy0x wrote:didnt want to make a new topic for this since ive already mentioned in here anyway....

is it just me or does this happen to anyone/everyone??...

sometimes when i close my window all the way(door is already closed), there is a GAP. BUT when i open the window and close it again, there's no gap. OR (just recently noticed) when i close my window or even close my door, there's a gap, BUT the "door open" light doesnt come on. hmm...so then i open the door and shut it reallll hard and the gap is gone. (ya i know sounds confusing...)

weird???

:x Aargh! I need more caffeine!!! :o

1) Close window all the way + door already closed = gap
2) Open window + close window = no gap
3) Close window or close door = gap
4) Door closed = Door open light is "off" (Hmm, 'ya got me on that one.)
5) Open door + slam closed = No gap (Should equal broken window)

Recommended fix:
1) Open door
2) Place fingers inside door jam
3) Slam door shut

You've now forgotten about all about the gap.

Seriously, two door cars have issues with heavy doors settling over time. When the door is closed, look at the weather stripping just at the bottom of the window. Does it line up with the trim at the bottom of the rear windows? My guess is that it is slightly lower and equal to the amount of your gap. Stop by the dealer and see if the door can be adjusted. After that, stop by the emergency room and have those fingers looked at.

I took mine in a total of 4 times. The weather stripping was replaced twice, the guides for the window was replaced and reassembled. After 4 trips its now barely noticable. Sometimes if you get a cross wind or if you put your ear close to the window I can hear a little "wind rush" but its as good as its going to get.

how does a bad regulator lead to bad track. IMO the bad regulator leads to slowness or inproper function of the power window...not making it go off the track....but if thats what solves your pickle...so be it.
