Question about intake dampener

Question about intake dampener

Postby lambition » Mon Aug 29, 2005 11:32 pm

I read that 2nd air filter on Solara is actually intake dampener.

So I was about to remove the filter, but I found it didn't quiet look like dampener.

There were small pieces of carbon (somewhat close to charcoal) like stuffs inside the filter.

Can anyone confirm true perpose of this filter?
Is this really a dampener?

Do removing this dampener create any noticeable noise?

This is a carbon filter which is used to help pass CARB regulations. Removing it will not throw off a CEL or cause any problems. If you donot have emissions testings, then feel free to break it from the air cleaner lid.

I did before I switched to an Injen Intake.

Just as I thought, there was something more to it.. :-?

I'm in VA, and I have to do emission test every 2 years. I guess I will just keep it in there.

You can't be serious. He'd sooner stop breathing... and he'd find that easier.
