Arthur- NOT true. Before i got my new tires last year (in the summer on dry pavement) i had some fun. Flat parking lot, just pull the ebrake, slap the stick down to 1st gear in tiptronic mode and gas it. I couldve sat there as long as i wanted smokin the sh*t outta my tires.
In conclusion, it's 100% possible.
PS- could be different for you guys with the I4

i meant u cant do it with using the brake... and wut kind of parking lot surface are u talking about? the smooth one s or the regular ones on the streets
