Need Help! VSC and TRAC not working

Postby JadedEMOlush » Sat Jan 22, 2005 1:27 am

Hi everyone...

We are about to get 12-18 inches of snow in the northeast, and my car pics TODAY of all days to get a little funky on me.

After I engage in Drive... the VSC and TRAC lights glow a steady orange. I tried moch situations with both on ICE... both the traction control and the VSC do not work. RPMS shoot up to the 6's and no gription... when normally both systems would kick in... and my car would drive straight as an arrow with low RPMS

Also... I do not have my driver manual... so I cant look anything up.

Any help would be great... even if the manual just says... "steady light" means system needs to be reset/checked at local dealership.

If I could fix these before the snow hits... that would be ideal.

Thanks.

Here's what the owners manual says:
"VSC" Warning Light
The light warns that there is a problem somewhere in the vehicle stability control system or traction control system.

The light will come on when the ignition key is turned to "ON", and will go off after a few seconds.

If the light comes on while driving, the system does not work. However, as conventional braking operates when applied, there is no problem to continue your driving.

In the following cases contact your Toyota dealer:

The warning light does not come on after ignition key is turned to "ON".

The warning light remains on after the ignition key is turned to "ON".

The warning light comes on while driving.

The "TRAC OFF" indicator light will come on when the "VSC" warning light comes on even if the "TRAC OFF" switch is not pushed.

Good luck with your weather the storm your getting left me about 12" of snow last night and this morning.
When in doubt gas it out, brakes just slow you down.

This is my problem

The "TRAC OFF" indicator light will come on when the "VSC" warning light comes on even if the "TRAC OFF" switch is not pushed.

Thanks so much for your help, and doing that research for me. Very much appreciated!!!

Off to Toyota this week... I will respond with their answer. I've got 1500 miles left until my warranty is up... so I'm happy this went bad now.
