Solara convertible: changes from 2004 -> 2005 ??

I think you may be right.
2004 was Solara coupe only.
Convertible was released in mid 2004 as an early 2005 model ??

Convertible is V6 only, with SE and SLE trim levels.

The convertible was released in the spring of 04 as a 04. The only differences are:

315W stereo vs 270W

The tonneau cover has 2 straps with hooks, one on each side that hook into into the inside rear seat panels(next to passenger). This mod was made due to the tonneau cover having a tendency to fly off when the wind got under it.

if theres a the convert is a 2004 then y is it that when u go to buyatoyota.com and u select solara 2004s then where the hell is the convertible??? and then u select 2005 there they are... OH MY! is it because the convert is a 2005?

Not sure what the confusion is here. When I was shopping for my convertible back in July the covertbile I orginally ordered was a 04. I also test drove an 04 at another dealer. The model year changes late August and that's when the 05s start showing up on the lot. I actually ended up getting a 05 since arrival time of the 04 was same time the 05s were arriving.

When you go to toyota.com now you will find 05 models since it is the new model year. Toyota doesn't post/sell 04s....just the latest model year. If you go and look at other dealers inventories on line you can probably find a 04.

Actually, it's a standard SE model - the SLE has leather seats and automatic climate control. Strangely enough the start price is the full MSRP + shipping for that model (and the reserve is not met yet).

Also, i read somewhere that the 05's have an option to add on the bodykit, the 04's didn't have that...

Thanks. I heard about the tonneau cover from my dealer.

The convertible has 315w stereo with 7 speakers/ 7 locations
The coupe has 270w with 8 speakers in 6 locations

The "sport" TRD body kit is available on the 05 coupes; so far AFAIK its not (yet?) available for the convertible.
