SLE's ECU has the nav built in. I didnt click the link. I'm assuming that it's the exact oem SLE Navi.

Same in the Lexus. The ECU are different.

OK ... What makes you think that the Navi unit is tied into the ECU??? The Navi units have seperate speed/reverse sensors and a 1 disk changer... what would be the point of tying the navi into the ecu? There are no functions on the navi that would require the ecu for processing ( all maintanance functions are done through the navi unit itself )

BTW ... The NON-jbl equipped cars would use a standard camry navi unit (w/amplifier inside) but the jbl equipped cars would use the solara (no amp) units

My only concern would be where does the voice prompts come out on the non 6 speaker (non jbl) system? On my camry the navi talks through the driver tweeter only?

I heard it's in the ECU

anyhow

It's weird that it comes through the tweeter, It's supposed to be the whole front left area, including the 6.5

Maybe it does come out the whole left side...It sounds like it only comes out the tweeter...but thats how the whole system sounds I guess... The navi definetly has a seperate speed sensor...I think I am going to buy the navi unit and try to install it

Camry NAV & Solara NAV are only different in voice output.
Camry is analog so you need an analog JBL amp but still preamp out of the NAV.
Solara NAV's voice output is digital so you need to have a digital JBL amp.

In NAV map DVD v 3.x, both Camry & Solara NAV's only used the left front speaker without muting the whole system (not 100% sure since I have 2004 Solara NAV in my 2004 Sienna; can someone verify???)

But I hear in NAV map DVD v4.1, the Camry mutes the whole system for the voice out.

You might wanna check which version you have in Diagnostic mode.
It should say something like Denso 5640 & Map DVD v.3.1
2004 Sienna XLE AWD
Add-Ons : '07 Solara Navigation with Voice Command/Bluetooth & Eclipse Reverse Camera
