OK, First off let me thank everyone for their tips and suggestions!
Let me give you all the hard #'s of my 2 runs.
For both runs:
Temperature-82
3/4 tank of gas
Nothing removed from car
And myself driving (235lbs)
front tires at 30psi
rear tires at 39psi

Run 1
R/T:.951 (Save your comments I know this sucks! )
60':2.432
330:6.701
1/8:10.220
mph:69.81
1000:13.239

1/4:15.763
mph:89.77

This run was performed with the Trans in S4, stalled the motor at 1500rpm.

Run #2
R/T:.613
60':2.359
330:6.728
1/810.269
MPH:69.41
1000:13.305

1/4:15.841
MPH:89.44

This Time I stalled the motor to @2000 and used the sport shift. BUT, I hit the rev limiter during the 1-2 shift and had left on my A/C by accident. So without those 2 mistakes I think a 15.5-6 would be possible.Overall I am not too upset because there were a few mustangs running in the 15.5 range.

Not bad for first times. I'm very interested to hear of your future runtimes with 1/4 tank of gas and perhaps at least the donut removed plus better takeoffs and manual shifting.

You might want to try better tires, lower PSI, removing the rear seats, spare tire, and having less than 1/4 tank of gas.

Let me ask you, was there any wheel spin on any of your take offs? Did you leave it in D for the first run? Did you heavy brake it it the first time? Those times do sound high, but the temperature is a huge factor too. I will try to run mine in 40 below weather. Cars thrive on cold air! Thanks for sharing though. I've been dying to hear times for quite a while now. If this was your first time, then hats off to you.

G-Tec the Solara last night. I have a V6 sport. Never checked the tires but i know i need to lower then when i run. This was just for a ball park time.

First run i just had it in drive, stalled to about 1500 a little tire spin ran a 15.62 at 93 mph.

Second run stalled to 2000, had the shiftronic on. Lots of tire hop ran a 15.68.

Both runs had almost a full tank, my self (230 lbs) and a passenger weighing about 230 also.

I was very impressed.

A NX kit will be going on this week so i will update with new times when im done.

Thanks for those figures. If Motor Trend did it 15.2 and Road & Track did it 15.0, I would expect a few tenths above that. Unless you run the car all day and write in your best time, I don't know if the magazine times can be replicated stock. Hell, you run your car all day, your times would get worse and your car would probably die (tranny or engine problems). Unless, you get lucky and stall it just right and produce little to no wheel spin for the perfect launch. Good times though. I hope you weren't going down hill. :D That would bias those numbers just a tad.

VVTiGuy - Gen 2 track time

Postby michaels artic frost » Tue Sep 21, 2004 8:20 am

VVTiGuy,

Nice job for 1st time! Time was better than I anticipated. I'm going to wait a couple more months and take my ride to the track. By then the weather should be cooler and I hope to get some good runs.

Both runs where done on the street. Slight up hill. We run several 700 hp cars, that i and buddies own, at same spot. G-tec at the most as been 3 tenths off from what the track said.

Sorry for the long delay in my response. To quickly awnser your Q's:
Not much wheelspin off the line, the track had great traction. The first Run the car was simply left in S4 with a very lite power-brake. The second run I launched it more aggresivelly and got a better 60' but hit the limited on the 1-2 shift and left the A/C on....so I know a 15.6-5 will be possible. I plan on going back within 2 weeks and I'll post the results.
